At the time of writing Real Sociedad sit pretty at the top of La Liga (although Atletico does have two games in hand on them) and riding a crest of a wave that has been a couple of seasons in the making. After spending many seasons threatening the top half then scattering away again, the club from the Basque country is finally finding some consistency and head coach Imanol Alguacil getting the most out of his financially smaller assembled squad than some of his upper La Liga echelons rivals. So, who is this club looking to cause an almighty shock in Spain? And where did they come … [Read more...]
Real Sociedad the invisible club
You can’t help but feel a little sorry for Real Sociedad. In any other season, we would be beside ourselves with praise for the job Imanol Alguacil is doing at the club who have become most famous recently for their average mid-table finishes. The reason why is that the whites and Blues find themselves mixing it in the top four keeping a number of the established elite at bay. The problem though is Granada. The newly-promoted outfit have stolen all the headlines after sweeping to the top of the table (second now after Barca won last night) and have been doing a fine job of staying … [Read more...]

Arsenal Transfers: Illarramendi a target
Asier Illarramendi is reportedly a target for Arsenal, but the midfielder may have to wait until the summer to complete a move to the Emirates Stadium. However, Marca has today reported that Arsenal are monitoring the 24-year-old's situation, but won't be signing him until the summer. This is because Arsene Wenger is focussed on bringing in a defender rather than any other player, making steady progress in … [Read more...]
