Return tie against City at Camp Nou sets Barca tongues wagging

4th March 2014 by andym

After a fairly fortuitous 2-0 win against a game Manchester City in the Champions League, it looks likely that Barcelona will get through to the quarter-finals at the expense of the moneyed English side. In recent years, Spanish clubs have had the upper hand over their English opponents, with Barca among those profiting the most. In the past decade, the current champions have managed to overcome Manchester United in two finals, Arsenal twice in the knockout stages and, on the odd occasion, Chelsea. City could soon join that list, but against Premier League opposition, there have been a few … [Read more...]

Betis make officiating display viral

25th February 2014 by tomw

Real Betis have taken an alternative approach to a contentious refereeing performance - by taking clips from the recent game against Athletic Bilbao of controversial decisions and putting them on YouTube! The video has amassed 14,000 views by Tuesday but was published on the club's official YouTube channel as a response to the performance of Manzano. The three incidents which Betis complained about were that Ruben Castro was denied a penalty, Athletic's penalty was … [Read more...]

Manchester City Humbled By Barcelona

They tried to attack on the break, but without Aguero they offered little. The breakthrough came on 54 minutes. Lionel Messi was bursting through … [Read more...]

Yaya Toure downbeat On City’s Chances

18th February 2014 by nickh

As the big game approaches, one man more than any other has an insight into tonight's Champion's League clash between Manchester City and Barcelona. Yaya Toure is a powerhouse in the centre of the sky blue midfield, as equally at home scoring spectacular goals as he is putting in crunching tackles. In his previous incarnation, he was an effective holding midfielder for an all conquering Barcelona team from 2007 to 2010. He was never a first choice midfielder but still contributed to their treble winning success in 2009. Manchester City fans would be expecting Yaya to rally to their cause, but … [Read more...]
