Atletico Madrid – the Jesus Gil years
In 1987, controversial politician and businessman Jesus Gil became the club president of Atletico Madrid, running the club until his resignation in May 2003. Gil made most of his money in the construction business but also spent time in jail when in 1967 one of his buildings collapsed, killing 58 people. If Tuesday's Champions League quarter final second leg wasn't dramatic enough, the response to the defeat from Malaga's Qatari chairman gave fans some added action to follow on twitter after the game. A village football team, after losing 11 games on the trot and conceded a staggering 227 goals, has been branded the worst football team in Britain. Hopeless Madron FC have suffered a disappointing start to the season and let in 227 goals since the start of the campaign having scored just two goals themselves and also being on the end of a 55-0 thrashing. Ray Wilkins sacked from Chelsea
Breaking news as Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins has parted company with his club after they have took the decision not to renew the 54 year old's contract. Wilkins who joined in 2008 under Luiz Felipe Scolari will end his stint with Chelsea with immediate effect. The former England midfielder enjoyed a successful playing career appearing for AC Milan, Man Utd, QPR and Rangers respectively after starting out life as a Chelsea apprentice in the 1970's.
