Real Madrid have failed to live up to their usual high standards this season in La Liga and the Champions League, which could lead to the Spanish giants splashing the cash in the summer to reshape how their team looks for the 2019/20 campaign.
Los Blancos said goodbye to Cristiano Ronaldo last summer as he left for Juventus and they have struggled to replace their leading goalscorer and that is reflected in the La Liga betting for the title as they are now as big as 100/1 going into the final two months of the campaign.
Zinedine Zidane returned to the club a few weeks and has found a slight improvement from the squad. The Frenchman, though, has surely been promised a huge transfer chest to go out and land some of the world’s leading stars once the transfer window opens.
Here are two players that have been linked with joining the Real Madrid revolution this summer and could be the future in the capital.
Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe is considered by many as the leading young player in world football right now. The PSG forward played a huge role in helping France win the World Cup in Russia last summer, while he continues to shine for his domestic club who, are of course, nailed on for the Ligue 1 title.

If Mbappe is Real Madrid’s number one target this summer, they may have to do something special to convince PSG to let go of their prized asset. It would take at least a world-record fee to convince them to part ways with the youngster.
Mbappe himself is likely to be tempted to move to Madrid as La Liga would be a step up from Ligue and means he would be playing competitive football every week. Although it would be an expensive move, at just 20 years old, Real would be investing for the future.
The 2017-18 Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year has all the attributes to be fans’ favourite at the Bernabeu. Just like his fellow French compatriot Thierry Henry, who had a lot of success at Barcelona, he may well be converted into a centre-forward, which will ensure he scores lots of goals at whicever level he chooses to play at.
Matthijs de Ligt
Real Madrid’s incredible run in the Champions League over the last few years came to a crashing end last month when Ajax defeated them in the last 16 of the competition. The Dutch side were full of young and exciting players, who were inevitably on trial in front of the scouting team at the Spanish club.
One of the stars of the Ajax team this season has been Matthijs de Ligt. Despite only being 19 years old, he has already featured over 100 times for the Dutch club and is a regular with the Netherlands national team.

De Ligt is sure to be in hot demand in the summer, with Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United all thought to be interested. If Real Madrid are serious about the player, they might be able to outbid their rivals and secure the most talented young defender in Europe.
This summer could be the end of the road for many players who have been regulars in the Real Madrid squad over the last few years as the club looks to youth to try to help them return to the summit in Spain and Europe.
