According to reports from the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are set to withdraw their pursuit to sign Valencia star Joao Cancelo.
Tottenham Hotspur currently face a real problem in the right-back position ahead of their Premier League opener against Newcastle United this weekend.
Following the sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City and the injury suffered by Kieran Trippier during a pre-season friendly against Juventus, Tottenham do not have a senior right-back to choose from at the moment.
As a result, Spurs were said to have entered the market to sign Valencia star Joao Cancelo and it looked like the North London side would be able to land the services of the Portuguese international for a decent fee of around £25million.
Recently though, Chelsea and Juventus have also joined in the race for Cancelo and according to the Daily Mail, this has led to Tottenham cooling their interest in the 23-year-old.
Tottenham have not brought in a single new player to the club during the current transfer window and the recent development regarding Cancelo is certain to further frustrate the club faithful.
