According to reports from TV Galicia in Spain, Newcastle United are currently in pole position to sign Lucas Perez from Arsenal.
Newcastle United have endured a very frustrating time in the summer transfer window so far and with the start of the Premier League campaign less than a week away, the Magpies do not find themselves in the best of shapes at the moment.
Nonetheless, manager Rafael Benitez is working very hard behind the scenes to bring in some new players to St. James’ Park and according to TV Galicia in Spain, there is finally some good news for the Tyneside based outfit on the transfer front.
It has been claimed that Newcastle are currently in pole position to sign Arsenal striker Lucas Perez as they are now ready to match the Gunners’ asking price of around £13.5million for the ex-Deportivo La Coruna man.
Turkish side Fenerbahce were said to have been leading the race to recruit Perez as Newcastle were only keen on a loan deal for the 28-year-old but the Magpies’ stance has since changed and they now stand a good chance of landing the pacey attacker.
