According to reports from the Chronicle, Newcastle United are still in contention to acquire the services of Lucas Perez from Arsenal.
Arsenal signed Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna last summer for around £17million and many felt at the time that the Spaniard would prove to be a very good signing for the Gunners.
Perez did impress for Arsenal whenever he got the opportunity to play last season but unfortunately, those opportunities were too sporadic for the striker’s liking and he is now on the verge of leaving the Emirates Stadium, especially having been pushed further down the pecking order following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette.
A move back to Spain has been seen as a possibility for Perez but newly promoted Newcastle United have also been linked with a move for the 28-year-old in recent times.
There have not been too many developments regarding Newcastle’s chase for Perez but according to reports from the Chronicle, the Magpies still stand a very good chance of signing the Spanish attacker, with manager Rafa Benitez very keen on a deal.
