Finally, Real Madrid get to play catch up on the rest of La Liga as their game in hand over rivals Barcelona comes to the fore against Celta Vigo on Wednesday night.
The fixture was originally due to be played in February, however, a storm damaged Celta Vigo’s Balaídos stadium causing the fixture to be delayed.
The game will have a host of eyes from around the world to get more information on where the destination of the La Liga title may be heading.
As it stands, both Real and Barcelona sit on 87 points, however, it is Barcelona who have the much stronger goal difference leaving them top.
If Real win or draw, they will move into the outright lead with just one game apiece to play.
Although, they may not have it all their own way.
Celta Vigo have already beaten Real Madrid this season after beating Los Blancos in the Copa Del Rey Quarter finals where Celta claimed a 2-1 first leg win at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Zinedine Zidane’s men could only manage a 2-2 draw in the second leg at Celta’s home ground but even that would realistically be enough for Real to all but clinch their first league triumph since 2011/12.
However, Celta Vigo have little to play for after coming agonisingly close to knocking Manchester United out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage but for a last gasp John Guidetti miss at Old Trafford.
However, Vigo’s form has been dreadful of late having lost their last five in the league with head coach Eduardo Berizzo making it clear that the Europa League took priority.
By contrast, Real have won their last four in a row including an impressive 4-1 victory over Sevilla when many thought they may slip up.
The title is in Real’s hands but they must take Celta Vigo seriously. On paper, it looks like a comfortable win for Ronaldo and co but that is a dangerous view to take.
The whole Real squad may have one eye on the Champions League final against Juventus but there is still the hard graft of the league to contend with in a season that could still go either way for Real.
The double is on the cards but there is still the risk of ending the campaign trophy less and that will not be acceptable to Club Chairman Florentino Pérez.
Greatness awaits Real Madrid this season but Celta Vigo could still spoil the party.
