West Ham United have entered talks with Arsenal over the signing of Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta, according to reports from the Metro.
West Ham United have gone through a surprisingly quiet period in the January transfer market so far but one can fully expect things to pick up for the Hammers in the coming days and a number of players should arrive through the gate at the Boleyn Ground.
Bringing in a new striker is a priority for manager Slaven Bilic but the Croatian is looking to strengthen other areas of the pitch as well and recently, it had been claimed that the Hammers’ boss was looking to reinforce his midfield by eyeing a swoop for Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta.
Now in a further development to the story, it can be revealed by the Metro that West Ham have entered talks with Arsenal over the signing of Arteta and are confident of pulling off the deal.
Arteta’s contract at Arsenal is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and with the 33-year old struggling for regular minutes on the pitch at the Emirates; it is believed that the he is open to making a move to West Ham in January.

Why would we want a 33 year old Arteta? Yes he is / was a great player but our midfield is our strongest area with flair players like Payet, Lanzini, Zarate and workers such as Kouyate, Noble, Obiang, Antonio and Moses. We have Oxford, Cullen waiting in the wings and Poyet and Samuelson out on loan so does that look like we need Arteta for the next 4 months?

ONLY ON a free, legs gone, far to slow and not mobile enough.
