Match
Formation – 4-3-3
Goalkeeper
Marc-Andre ter Stegen has had to wait patiently for his chance in the cup competitions due to the fantastic form shown by Claudio Bravo and the German will now surely be keen on impressing on Wednesday night when he will start in goal against Espanyol.
Despite the lack of opportunities, there is no doubting that ter Stegen is a top class keeper and he will be hopeful to keeping a clean sheet on the night.
Defence
While the Barcelona backline performed very well against Espanyol during the weekend, manager Luis Enrique may use the cup clash against the same opponents to give some of his fringe players a chance to start.
As a result a host of changes is expected to be made, with the likes of Thomas Vermaelen and Jeremy Mathieu starting while new signing Aleix Vidal making his long awaited debut at right back. At the left full back position though, Jordi Alba should retain his place.
Midfield
Much like Vidal, even Arda Turan will be making his debut for Barcelona and the Turkish superstar will undoubtedly be keen on making an impact in front of the Camp Nou faithful.
Andres Iniesta looks set to make way for Turan in the starting lineup while Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets are expected to start once again.
Attack
While there will be a host of changes throughout the squad, the trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar are fully expected to start.
The superstars would most certainly have been left disappointed at not being able to find the back of the net last time out and will be intent on rectifying matters on Wednesday night.
Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Ter Stegen; Vidal, Vermaelen, Mathieu, Jordi Alba; Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Turan; Neymar, Suarez, Messi
