Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has urged Liverpool to secure the services of Real Madrid striker Jese Rodriguez.
Liverpool are expected to be very busy in the January transfer window and signing a new striker remains high on the priority list for manager Jurgen Klopp.
A host of top names such as Robert Lewandowski, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Javier Hernandez have been linked with a move to Liverpool over the past few weeks.
Rather than going for such high profile players though, former Liverpool star Danny Murphy wants the Reds to pursue a more modest target in the form of Real Madrid youngster Jese Rodriguez.
Jese has struggled for regular minutes on the pitch at the Santiago Bernabeu during the current season and is widely expected to be leaving this winter.
A move to the Premier League has been seen as a possibility for Jese and Murphy believes that Liverpool should go all out in order to sign the 22-year old as he will inject more pace into the attacking lineup.
Murphy said: “Pace is a commodity feared by defenders and yearned for by supporters for its ability to get people out of their seats.
“At the moment, Liverpool’s attack looks blunted while Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems continue to frustrate. Christian Benteke is undeniably gifted but, as illustrated by a turgid display at West Ham, his immobility doesn’t seem to fit in with Liverpool’s mantra.
“Jese Rodriguez at Real Madrid has grown tired of a lack of game time in the Spanish capital. Jese is young, quick and well worth a gamble in January given his current discontent.”
