Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo has refused to rule out Diego Costa making a return back to the club.
Costa enjoyed a stunning debut campaign at Chelsea following his £32million move to Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid at the start of last season and his 21 goals went a long way in helping the Blues claim the Premier League title.
The current season has been a stark contrast for Costa though and a drastic loss of form as well as a host of disciplinary problems has meant that the striker has endured a poor campaign so far.
In addition, Costa has been accused by the Chelsea fans for costing manager Jose Mourinho’s job and many feel that the Premier League side would be better off dispensing with the services of the Spanish international.
A move back to Atletico Madrid has been touted for Costa in recent times and now to fuel the speculation; club President Enrique Cerezo has refused to rule out the possibility of the striker making a return to the Vicente Calderon.
Speaking to RTVE, Cerezo said, “Right now, Diego is a Chelsea player and he has to focus on Chelsea. But you never know what will happen in football and sometimes players do return to their former clubs.”
