Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has revealed that he is not overly concerned by Fernando Torres’ current goal drought.
Since netting in Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Eibar, Fernando Torres has not managed to find the back of the net for more than three months and the striker is currently stuck on 99 goals for the Spanish side.
While the fans are desperate for Torres to earn his landmark 100 goals for Atletico sooner rather than later, his current goal drought will certainly come as a cause for concern for manager Diego Simeone.
However, Simeone has rejected the notion that he is worried about Torres’ current woes in front of goal and has stated his belief that the Spaniard’s much awaited 100th strike will come.
Simeone said, “As long as he works like he works, and continues how he trains and plays, it does not matter if he does not score his 100th goal.
“But the goal will come. Fernando Torres has always scored important goals and I hope when he does score it is one of his important ones. He’s training with the club, he’s involved in the club… the goal will come.”
