Chelsea have held talks with former Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to reports from the Daily Mirror (as cited by Goal.com).
Adebayor is currently a free agent after being released by Tottenham Hotspur over the summer but despite his departure, the North London side are still said to be paying the striker £100,000-per week due to a contractual agreement.
Having remained without a club for over six months, Adebayor is now set to make a return to football in January and a move to a Premier League club has been seen as a possibility for the former Togo international.
The likes of West Ham United and Aston Villa were said to be interested in signing Adebayor but now according to surprise reports from the Daily Mirror, it has been claimed that the 31-year old has opened talks with defending Premier League champions Chelsea over a potential move in January.
