Real Madrid’s out of favour defensive midfielder Aiser Illarramendi has been on Brendan Rodgers’ radar throughout this summer’s transfer window and a deal has been in the works for some time.
However it seems that the player could be on his way to David Moyes’ Real Sociedad according to reports in the Spanish publication Marca.
According to reports throughout the summer, Illarramendi had been informed by the powers that be at Real Madrid that he was no longer in their plans and the player could find a new club. Liverpool had been one of the clubs who had made the earliest approach for the £16 million rated player as a deal seemed possible.
According to the report, a deal with Real Sociedad is at the final stages and barring a miracle or a late bid from Liverpool, the player looks set to play under David Moyes this season. There is absolutely no doubt that Illarramendi is a player who would definitely have improved Liverpool’s central midfield.
