Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren is trying to complete a deal for Brighton central defender Lewis Dunk by offering long serving defender Mike Williamson in a swap deal, according to reports in The Guardian and the deal is being discussed among the club representatives so that it could be completed as soon as possible.
Newcastle drew 2-2 at home against Southampton on the opening day of the new season and would certainly like to add some much needed muscle in the form of the 23-year-old, 6 feet 4 inches tall Lewis Dunk, who has had an impressive stint with Brighton.
Mike Williamson has been with Newcastle since the year 2010 and has made 150 appearances for the Tyneside club during that period in all competitions. However, his powers are on the wane and Newcastle would certainly welcome a younger player who would be able to cope with the extreme physical demands of the English Premier League.

Pure speculation. Unlikely because of wages disparities.
