2015 FA Cup finalists Aston Villa, who put together an excellent string of results following the appointment of Tim Sherwood last season, are now in talks with Italian playmaker Alessandro Diamanti according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Diamanti is currently contracted to Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande but what would be of interest for Villa fans is the fact that in the 2014-15 season he played for Fiorentina during a season long loan and may be tempted to link up again with ex-team mate Micah Richards who also joined the midlands club in the summer.
Tim Sherwood would want to add some pedigree to his attacking ranks following the departures of Delph and Benteke, which is why any move for Diamanti makes sense.
The Italian has played in the Premier League in the past when he was briefly associated with West Ham in 2009. According to the report, Premier League new boys Watford are also interested in Diamanti.
Colin says
Doesn’t look like this now, bald, wears strong glasses, and can’t run, sounds like the ideal signing.
Getting teed off with the Adeybayor thing is he trying to hold the club to ransom, we’ve been talking about it for 3 weeks now it’s all gone quiet, best kick him into touch and go for another striker although have to say why have we left it this late. I have a feeling that Gestede will come good for us, well let’s hope so or we might be stuffed again this season.
