According to the Daily Telegraph Liverpool could launch a £46 million pound bid for Marco Reus.
However, this final attempt to capture one of Europe’s best attackers looks unlikely to bear any reward, as Real Madrid look most likely to sign the Germany international.
Reus has often been Borussia Dortmund’s talismann in recent years, although was part of a team that struggled in the Bundesliga last season.
The attacker has attacking qualities to improve team, and has physically become stronger during his time at Dortmund.
Liverpool will be hoping that a substantial bid could entice Reus, although the attraction of Champions League football is surely a considerable factor, in which Real Madrid have an advantage over Liverpool.
Real Madrid fans will be familiar with Reus as they recall him scoring against Los Blancos in the Champions League before.
Reus would join fellow international Toni Kroos at the Santiago Bernabéu, adding to the considerable talent in the Real Madrid ranks.
