Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is making all sorts of headlines ahead of the January transfer window, with reports linking him with a move away from the Bernabeu. Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are all interested in the German, whilst some media outlets are saying the Galacticos want to keep him.
Reports on Spanish radio last night exclaimed that Khedira had agreed a pre-contract agreement to join Bayern Munich, dashing the hopes of both Arsenal and Manchester United. The clubs were all willing to meet Khedira’s £10m valuation, but Bayern Munich look to have again capitalised on a fringe Real madfielder.
Ancelotti was unable to stop Xabi Alonso from joining Bayern in the summer, and has said publicly that the team missed his influence at the beginning of the season.
Hugely supportive of his players at all of his previous clubs, Carlo Ancelotti has slammed several rumours, claiming that he wants to keep Khedira, although he rarely has much say in transfers at the club.
Since winning the World Cup in the summer, Khedira has not featured much for Real, having been injured for long spells. He recently returned from a thigh injury, but will face competition from Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez and Isco, not to mention Luka Modric when he returns from his own injury.
Should Khedira return to form, Madrid could be more willing to offload Asier Illarramendi, who has not featured much this season. The youngster would be more pricey, but Madrid and Ancelotti look unwilling to give him many more chances in the first team.
