When Gareth Bale failed to re-appear for the second half of Real Madrid’s game against Granada on Saturday, fans feared the worst. But there is good news on the injury front.
Carlo Ancelotti has rushed to quell the rumours about the world’s most expensive player:
“Bale tried to train but had discomfort in his left leg. We prefer that he recovers and he will not play on Tuesday. He should be available on Sunday.”
Bale suffered a heavy challenge from Granada’s Murillo, and limped off the field at half time in some discomfort. It has been a stop start first season at the Bernabeu, he has spent as many minutes on the treatment bench as on the grass. Neverthless, he has shown patches of brilliance and there are signs that he could forge a good understanding with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Madrid hold a two nil lead over Espanyol going into tonight’s Copa Del Rey quarter final second leg. Sunday’s match against Athletic Bilbao is much more important. Madrid and Athletic are bith in fine form, Los Blancos are chasing the La Liga title and Athletic are chasing the fourth European spot.
Ancelotti will need Bale at his best on Sunday. Bale will be hoping for a return as well. Angel Di Maria has been profiting in his absences and is making a strong claim to be considered number one in Bale’s position.
