Both Chelsea and Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Spanish international Xabi Alonso as he looks set to become a free agent next summer reports Give me Sport.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti remains adamant however, that Alonso will put pen to paper on a new deal very soon, claiming the holding midfielder is still very much a ‘vital’ player for the club. In spite of this, both United and Chelsea are reportedly putting together offers of their own in attempt to coerce the ex Liverpool player back to the Premier League next year.
Just recently, Juventus were also rumoured to be interested in Xabi Alonso’s signature with Andrea Pirlo supposedly offered as colateral as part of a swap deal to sign the Spanish midfielder. Ancelotti was quick deter any hope of a deal of this kind coming to fruition however in a recent press conference with the Spanish media.
“Xabi is a vital player for Madrid now that he’s recovered from injury. There are only two players like him in Europe. One is Pirlo and the other is Xabi,” Ancelotti told Mediaset.
“However, we have no intention of making a player exchange deal with Juventus. There is no substance to any rumour like that.”
