Cristiano Ronaldo and FIFA President Sepp Blatter have been involved in a heated exchange during the past few days after Blatter made derogatory remarks about Ronaldo whilst giving an interview in England. Blatter has since apologised via twitter after the Portuguese striker used social media to vent his anger at the ‘joke’ whilst also suggesting FIFA have preference for Barcelona over Real Madrid.
Remarks made by Blatter at the Oxford Union event were uploaded to YouTube after the Swiss President impersonated Ronaldo and referred to him as ‘the other one’ before declaring that he preferred Lionel Messi. Blatter also said that one ‘spends more time at the hairdresser than the other’ and mocked Ronaldo’s extrovert personality.
Clearly irked by the ‘banter’ of Blatter, Ronaldo took to Facebook and twitter to express his disgust and claimed that the video ‘lacked respect for himself, his country and his club’. Ronaldo also stated that he felt Blatter had favourite clubs.
This video shows the respect and consideration that FIFA has for me, my club and my country. Much is explained now http://t.co/PzcvbtBoCT

I wish Mr.Blatter health and a long life, with the certainty that he’ll continue to witness the successes of his favourite teams and players

Blatter used twitter to apologise to Ronaldo for his ‘joke’ whilst again coming under fire for something silly he has said. We wonder whether there will be a handshake refusal at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in January after this…
Dear @Cristiano. I apologise if you were upset by my light-hearted answer at private event on Friday. I never meant to offend you. (1/2)

The man has a reputation for saying daft things (remember his comments on women footballers, racism handshakes, homosexual fans etc) and has to deal with the problems of the Nepalese deaths in Qatar which he will address next week.
