Barcelona will be looking to continue their 19 game unbeaten streak in the Primera Division this weekend as they face a trip up north to the Basque country’s very own Real Sociedad in what should be a comfortable encounter for Tito Vilanova’s men.
Preview
Barca are currently enjoying their best ever start to a La Liga campaign this season winning 18 out of their 19 opening games and drawing just once.
They’re currently enjoying an 11 point lead at the top of the Primera Division and despite succumbing to a disappointing 2-2 draw against Malaga in the Copa Del Rey yesterday evening, confidence should be high enough to see off their basque opponents at the Estadio Anoeta on Saturday. Sociedad meanwhile have been a rather steady outfit so far this term, occupying 9th position but doing nothing of real note.
The last couple of months however have brought around an improvement in form and they have only been defeated once in their last 10 matches and that defeat was at the hands of Real Madrid, a game they narrowly lost 4-3. Sociedad certainly haven’t looked short of goals recently after sticking 5 past Valencia a few weeks back and it’s ex Arsenal striker Carlos Vela providing their much needed goal threat this season.
Betting Odds
- Barca are unsurprisingly betting favourites to take all three points here and online bookmaker Bwin have them down as odds of 2/7 to win the game.
- Lionel Messi offers good value at 2/1 with Bet 365 to score first as well as the out of favour David Villa at 4/1 should he start on Saturday.
Team News
- Barcelona – Vilanova more or less has a full squad to choose from with Isaac Cuenca being the only noteworthy player sidelined due to injury.
- Real Sociedad – Philippe Montanier‘s men look in very good nick also with their entire first team squad to choose from for Saturday’s encounter.
