Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has pleaded with supporters in the La Liga sports betting news to lay off Jose Mourinho and to get behind the Portugese manager as the team aim for glory in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
“I have to ask that they [the fans] stop this now,” Ronaldo said, after sections of the Bernabeu crowd whistled and jeered Mourinho during the recent Copa del Rey clash with Celta Vigo. “The boss is going to stay, we still have a lot we can win this year. He is in charge and he takes the decisions, the fans and the players should help him, “ he added.
Real currently sit in third place in La Liga, 16 points behind favourites for La Liga with bet365 Barcelona and five points off their great rivals Atletico Madrid. Ronaldo, who has scored 16 times in the league this season, has accepted that his team may be unable to retain their La Liga title from this position but he is confident that, if the fans get behind the team then the year could still end successfully. “People have shown they are unhappy but that’s enough now. They have to get behind the boss and the team. It affects the players out on the pitch. If we win the Cup and the Champions League it will have been a good year,” Ronaldo said.
Jose Mourinho may be confrontational and uncompromising but he remains one of the most talented and respected managers in Europe. If he walks away from the Bernabeu then there will be no shortage of clubs interested in his services and he will not be easy to replace. If the Madrid fans get behind their manager then results on the pitch will follow but if the unrest continues then this season could end in disappointment for Real Madrid who could be at risk of losing not only their manager, but also their inspirational number seven.
