The ongoing transfer saga of Luka Modric’s proposed move to Real Madrid looks to be finally over today as Spurs and Madrid have finally reached an agreement to transfer the player for a reported fee of £33 million. The want-away Croatian’s departure to Madrid could not have come any sooner for both clubs with Madrid and Spurs enduring disappointing starts to their respective domestic campaigns.
Modric, 26, is set to be unveiled by Real Madrid today subject to a routine medical examination and with Madrid failing to pick up a win in their opening two La Liga games, Modric’s arrival will come as a major boost to Madrid boss Jose Mourinho as his star-studded squad goes in pursuit of defending their 2011/2012 La Liga title.
With new Spurs boss Andre Villas Boas also on the hunt for new signatures such as the likes of Willian of Shakhtar Donetsk and Leandro Damiao of Internacional, the cash generated from Modric’s sale will certainly allow Spurs the funds to capture their men.
