Proceedings are well and truely under way in this summer’s La Liga transfer window and some clubs notably Malaga are already showing the colour of their money with some lucrative additions to their squad this month. In this feature, La Liga Blog scours online Spanish football site Marca and analyses the pick of this week’s transfer news and gossip.
Sanchez ludicrously valued at €50 million
Barcelona’s pursuit to sign Udinese star Alexis Sanchez has hit a minor snag this week after the Italian club have publicly announced the striker is to be sold for no less than the paltry sum of €50 million euros. The Chilean international has maintained a fairly amicable record in front of goal so far during his career in Italy but with a 50 million euros price tag, Guadiola is unlikely to be reaching for his cheque book any time soon.
Malaga’s shopping spree shows no signs of slowing down
The Andalusian club are hoping to secure their 5th signing of the summer in the form versatile Argentine midfielder Ricardo Alvarez. The 23 year-old currently playing in the Argentine Primera Division for Velez Sarsfield, has attracted a lot of attention recently thanks to his impressive performances in this year’s Copa Libertadores. Malaga will be expected to fork out €10 million euros to obtain his signature but this signing is crucial if they intend to add in some much needed youth to complement recent older signings Jeremy Toulalan and Ruud van Nistlerooy.
Juventus close in on Sergio Aguero
Reports suggest Juventus chiefs plan to fly into the Spanish capital this week in a bid to prise away Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero. The want-away forward has received a fair amount of interest from the likes of Manchester City and local neighbors Real Madrid recently but a move to Italy would surely leave the Uruguayan in a worse-off position. Serie A is not the place to be for a striker of his calibre right now and the 23 year-old will either need to take the plunge and move overseas to the English Premier League or stay put where he is for at least another season.
And finally…
Neymar in, Kaka out?
Brazilian outfit Santos have confirmed they’ve accepted Real Madrid’s €45 million transfer bid for Neymar today and with competition for places bound to be fierce in Mourinho’s Madrid side next season, it could be unsettled attacking midfielder Kaka who may have to make way for the Brazilian after an unconvincing spell with Los Galacticos. With Aguero also linked with a move to Madrid it is difficult for many to see where the 29 year-old will fit in to Mourinho’s plans next year and with reported interest from Inter, a move back to Italy may just be the tonic to help rescue Kaka’s career.

50 mil is a bit excessive but it’s an investment for the future after all. He was pretty immense in Serie A this season, would much rather see him light up the Prem!

Hi Aikhionbre,
I think it is still very possible that Cesc Fabregas will be signing for Arsenal this summer.
