The youngsters of English League Two outfit Port Vale will have a dream opportunity to pit their wits against the likes of Lionel Messi, David Villa and Andreas Iniesta when they face Barcelona in a pre-season friendly this July.
The lucrative friendly was secured by Port Vale when Pepe Guardiola’s Barcelona needed a place to train before an upcoming friendly tournament with Manchester United.
Vale based in Stoke-on-Trent being in near proximity agreed to offer their facilities for free on the condition the Catalonian giants face them in a friendly.
The match was originally scheduled for the Port Vale first team but instead the honour has been passed down to the club’s Youth side as it has emerged the first team will be on a pre-season tour in Canada at the same time.
Only one stand will be open for the match due to maintenance issues at the ground which means tickets for the event will no doubt be hard to come by for Port Vale’s fans.
