New striker Daniel Sturridge was on target yet again for his new club as his goal helped Bolton Wanderers to a 2-0 home win over Everton this afternoon.
The Cottagers took an early-lead through centre back Gary Cahill as he ran clear get on the end of Stuart Holden’s free-kick from the left. Everton almost had an immediate response however after Tim Cahill should have levelled the tie after failing to make contact from an impressive Leighton Baines cross.
But it was man of the moment Sturridge who netted his third goal in three games by poking home from close-range following a Bolton Wanderers free-kick.
The on-loan Chelsea forward nearly added a second late on into the game and if current form continues a call-up from England head coach Fabio Capello could be beckoning the young striker.
Whilst Owen Coyle’s side will be buoyed by their convincing win this afternoon which keeps them in eighth spot in the Premier League, opponents Everton will have to dust themselves down after an ineffectual performance which saw them create very little in the way of chances.
