Aston Villa’s new record-breaking signing Darren Bent has vowed to justify the £18 million price tag placed on him by bagging the winner against Manchester City for the second time this season on Saturday. Bent who made a sensational switch from Sunderland to Villa this week has already got one over Manchester City after scoring the winning goal for the Mackems in their 1-0 win earlier on in the season.
“It is always nice to get a goal as early as possible and if the club can get three points on Saturday against such a big side, I’ll be delighted.” Stated the 26 year-old, who has no doubt left ex-manager Steve Bruce scratching his head after his unexpected move.
However the £18 million forked out for him which could raise to £24 million depending on add-ons will no doubt help fill the void Bent has left and boss Bruce has already set about looking for a replacement with both Hugo Rodallega and Robbie Keane linked with the club.
