Aston Villa produced a hard-earned victory in today’s Premier League Midlands derby clash with a 2-1 victory over West Brom. French boss Gerard Houllier can sleep easy tonight in the knowledge of his side’s assertive performance as they move to up to 13th in the Premier League table. It was Marc Albrighton who deserved the plaudits this afternoon for a convincing attacking display assisting both Stewart Downing’s volley in the first half and Emile Heskey’s header towards the end to wrap up the win. Paul Scharner scored a powerful header in the 90th minute for the Baggies to make it a tight finish to the match but the hosts were able to hold on.
