As 2011 draws to a close and all is quiet on the La Liga front until matches resume again in 2012, we’ve taken the chance to look back at a selection of our favourite goals from the year gone by. We’ve selected what we believe in our opinion are the best 5 goals from the La Liga Primera division in 2011. So why not check them out and let us know what you think by commenting below?
1. Julio Baptista (Malaga 3-2 Getafe) – A splendid overhead kick from Brazilian international Julio Baptista seals a dramatic late winner for Malaga in their 3-2 home win over Getafe in October.
2. Inigo Martinez (Real Sociedad 3-2 Real Betis) – This young centre back has already received praise this month for his long-range goal scoring exploits on La Liga Blog and here’s his incredible halfway line goal which came right on the final whistle to give Real Sociedad a 3-2 victory over Real Betis.
3. Pedro Leon (Malaga 3-2 Getafe) – Another goal from the classic encounter between Malaga and Getafe this season as Pedro Leon slams home a rifling shot from 30 yards out.
4. Helder Postiga (Real Zaragoza 2-0 Real Sociedad) – Another impressive overhead kick from Portugese striker Helder Postiga to help give his Zaragoza side a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad back in October.
5. Xavi (Barcelona 8-0 Osasuna) – A cheeky lob from Xavi piles on the misery for hapless Osasuna in this 8-0 rout courtesy of Barcelona.
